Doris B. Alford

Doris B. Alford, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Danville, Va. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Pippin of Richmond, Va., and Denise L. Nataka of Las Vegas; one son, Garrett Alford of Gainesville, Fla.; three brothers, Clyde Barts of Las Vegas and Preston Barts and Wyatt Barts, both of Danville, Va.; two sisters, Jeanette Finchum of Oklahoma City and Margaret Lilly of Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Thursday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4051 N. Cimarron Road. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Scott B. Bangert

Scott B. Bangert, 33, of Las Vegas died Monday in Los Angeles. He was born July 22, 1968, in Farmington, Mich. A resident for 15 years, he was a technician for Lloyd's Refrigeration and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Angela B.; one daughter, Hailey T. Bangert, and one son, Christopher A. Vanderpool, both of Las Vegas; his mother and stepfather, Mary J. and George G. Gronas of Livonia, Mich.; his father and stepmother, James D. and Linda S. Bangert of South Lyon, Mich.; one brother, Aaron B. Bangert of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, Angela J. Gronas of Livonia and Lynette J. Bangert of South Lyon; one stepbrother, George D. Gronas II of Westland, Mich.; two stepsisters, Linda R. Beardon of Canton, Mich., and Debra L. Dombrowski of Novi, Mich.; and his grandparents, John and Ruth Bangert of Dearborn, Mich..

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Catherine Carista

Catherine Carista, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Boston. A resident for five years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by one son, Frank A. Carista of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Ann Dicicco of Lynn, Mass.; three sisters, Camelle Rossetti of Boston, Nifa Demattia of Revere, Mass., and Jovenna Semplana of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Friday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Services will be 4 p.m. Friday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

Kevin Tracy Carlson

Kevin Tracy Carlson, 37, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 28, 1963, in California. A resident for 26 years, he was a construction worker.

He is survived by his father, Ken Carlson Sr. of Highland, Calif.; his mother, Brigitte Labo of Henderson; and two brothers, Ken Carlson Jr. of Las Vegas and Renee Labo of St. George, Utah.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Thomas Chesar

Thomas Chesar, 64, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Pennsylvania. A resident for eight years, he was an engineer in the gaming industry.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two sons, Thomas Chesar Jr. and Ted Chesar, both of Pennsylvania; one brother, John Chesar of Connecticut; five sisters, Elizabeth Chesar, Lucille Chesar, Florence Yencho and Eleanor Kohat, all of Pennsylvania, and Cathryn Watkins of Arizona.

Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling private arrangements.

Alexa Clarke

Alexa Clarke, 48, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 13, 1953, in Hayward, Calif. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; one daughter, Wendy Guay of Salt Lake City; two stepsons, Jason Clarke of Japan and Christopher Clarke of Ireland; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Joan M. Dalton

Joan M. Dalton, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born April 14, 1924, in England. A resident for 30 years, she was a casino change person.

She is survived by four sons, Charlie, Billy, Doug and Leslie; three daughters, Sharon, Karen and Brandy; two brothers, John Barlow and Tom Barlow; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Odyssey Health Care, 4011 McLeod Drive. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

James P. DeMint Sr.

James P. DeMint Sr., 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 21, 1924, in Carrollton, Ky. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired truck driver for the federal government, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; four sons, James P. DeMint Jr. of Woodbridge, Va., Daniel DeMint of Las Vegas and Walter DeMint and Robert DeMint, both of Henderson; one daughter, Mary DeMint of Henderson; one sister, Barbara Clarke of Riverside, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Edna Fischer

Edna Fischer, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born May 3, 1919, in Philadelphia. A resident for 29 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; and one daughter, Carole Barnish of Las Vegas.

Joan L. Fredericks

Joan L. Fredericks, 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Georgetown, Guyana. A resident for nine years, she was a nanny, a food bank worker, a member of the Vegas View Church of God in Christ's choir and the Sunshine Band.

She is survived by her husband, Orrin Sr.; two daughters, Beverly Ann Fredericks of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dawn Louise Fredericks of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Orrin C. Fredericks of Clearwater, Fla., and Brian Andre Fredericks of Las Vegas; three brothers, Desmond Alleyne of New York state, Samuel Alleyne of Virginia and Manuel Alleyne of England; two sisters, Joyce Crawford of New York and Cora Das of Maryland; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 7 p.m. today in Vegas View Church of God in Christ, 1906 Glider St., North Las Vegas. Burial will be in Brooklyn. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Pauline L. Gurell

Pauline L. Gurell, 76, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born June 9, 1925, in Flint, Mich. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Thomas Gurell of Salt Lake City, Scott Gurell of Las Vegas and John Gurell and Bruce Gurell, both of Henderson; one brother, Bud Henry of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Juanita E. Johnston

Juanita E. Johnston, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 15, 1925, in Ranger, W.Va. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Patti Franklin of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Anthony LaMonica

Anthony LaMonica, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born April 19, 1933, in New York City. A resident for five years, he was an aerospace worker for McDonnell Douglas, a Korean War Army veteran, a member of the Nevada Camera Club and Elks in Garden Grove, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Francine; one son, Lewis; one daughter, Ivy; one sister, Rena Meihm; and two grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is arranging private family services.

Miriam Mallet

Miriam Mallet, 62, of Las Vegas died Sept. 20 in Henderson. She was born June 13, 1939, in Cuba. A resident for 18 years, she was a housekeeper for Circus Circus.

She is survived by two brothers, Ruby Mallet of Spain and Armando Mallet of Florida.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Frank J.N. Mencuri

Frank J.N. Mencuri, 57, of Las Vegas died Oct. 4 in a local hospital. He was born March 7, 1944, in Chicago. A resident for 14 years, he was a painter and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; two sons, John Mencuri and Nicholas Mencuri, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Shirley Mencuri of Anaheim, Calif.; one brother, Terry Mencuri of Saugus, Calif.; three sisters, Nancy Mencuri of Anaheim, Calif., Cindy Leroy of Saugus and Sie Mencuri of California; and two grandchildren.

Autumn Marilyn Margaret Peters

Autumn Marilyn Margaret Peters, 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Seattle. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four daughters, Candie Swensen of Seattle, Christine Peters of Texas and Margaret Peters and Catherine Peters, both of Las Vegas; one son, David Swensen of Chelan, Wash.; one brother, Charles Illes Jr. of Truckee, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Neal E. Pettit, 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 31, 1952, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for eight years, he was an engineer in nuclear waste management at Yucca Mountain.

He is survived by his wife, Lee H.; one daughter, Meredith L. Pettit, and one son, Ben A. Pettit, both of Las Vegas; his parents, Belva and Robert Pettit of Rochester; one brother, Robert C. Pettit Jr. of Paso Robles, Calif.; and one sister, Carol Ann Benson of Albuquerque, N.M.

Gilberto Ruperto Sr., 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Puerto Rico. A resident for three years, he was a retired mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Neida; two sons, Joel Ruperto and Gilberto Ruperto Jr., both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Neida Ruperto of Connecticut; his mother, Maria Luisa of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Milagros Ruperto of Puerto Rico and Lolein Ruperto of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.

Ramon D. Thomas Sr.

Ramon D. Thomas Sr., 63, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 21, 1938, in Durham, N.C. A resident for 21 years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; four sons, Ramon D. Thomas Jr., Gary R. Thomas, William T. Thomas and Dion R. Thomas, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Bonnie B. Fletcher of Morehead City, N.C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Warren G. "Sporty" Watkins, 66, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Henderson, Texas. A resident for 44 years, he was a retired floorman who worked at the Las Vegas Hilton and Flamingo.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie; two stepdaughters, Emma Gordon of Pittsburg, Calif., and Gwendolyn Jackson of Las Vegas; three sisters, Minnie Turner of Tyler, Texas, and Velma Watkins and Dorothy Watkins Wagner, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Edward Watkins of Compton, Calif., Willie Watkins of California City, Calif., and Billie Watkins of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and five grandchildren.

Mary C. Whitebread

Mary C. Whitebread, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born May 21, 1910, in Anita, Pa. A resident for 1 1/2 years, she was a retired line worker for a manufacturing firm.

She is survived by one son, John; two sisters, Anna DeBiase and Jane Colosi, and one brother, Mario Colosi, all of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Mabel Mae Wolfe

Mabel Mae Wolfe, 96, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 21, 1905, in Canada. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired civil service employee from the Army Engineers.

She is survived by one son, Warren Helse of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
