Mario Balderas

Mario Balderas, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1923, in McAllen, Texas. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired owner of a TV repair store.

He is survived by two sisters, Arcelia of San Antonio and Consuelo B. Jimenez of Victorville, Calif.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Sophie Burstein

Sophie Burstein, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born June 13, 1921, in Rochester, Minn. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Burstein of Las Vegas and Michael Burstein of Minnesota; one brother, Hal Rubin of Minnesota; and two grandchildren.

Private services are scheduled. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Martha Camposeco Cervantes

Martha Camposeco Cervantes, 60, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born March 15, 1942, in Mexico. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired cook.

She is survived by her husband, Apolinar; two daughters, Rita L. Koentopp and Amelia Villalobos, both of Las Vegas; four brothers, Juan Carlos Camposeco of San Francisco, and Tomas Camposeco, Ramon Camposeco and Jorge Camposeco, all of Mexico; three sisters, Patricia Camacho of Mexico and Amelia Turner and Graciela Roof, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. American Cremation and Burial Services, 310 Foremaster Lane is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Parkway, Memphis, TN 38105.

Robert A. Chesto

Robert A. Chesto, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Chicago. A resident for 55 years, he was a retired security guard and World War II and Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Bob Chesto of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. services Monday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Joey Ciadella

Joey Ciadella, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired hotel bellman.

He is survived by his wife, Stella; one son, Carl Ciadella of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Rose Rizzotto of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Marie O'Farrell of Las Vegas and Ina Delbosco of Florida.

Services are postponed until further notice. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Marie David

Marie David, 85, of Millen, Ga., died Saturday in Millen. She was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A former Southern Nevada resident for 40 years, she was a retired medical technician.

She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Gordon of Waynesborough, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Dell Patrick Fairbanks

Dell Patrick Fairbanks, 50, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 8, 1952, in Wisconsin. A resident for two weeks, he was a purchasing agent for a maintenance company and a member of Alcoholic Anonymous.

He is survived by two sons, David and Dell; two daughters, Hollie and Tonya; two brothers, Gilbert O. Barko and John Michael Roberts; one sister, Margie L. Cyr; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Helen P. Hein

Helen P. Hein, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. Born Aug. 20, 1923, in New Canaan, Conn., she was a retired medical secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Sr.; one son, Marvin Jr.; one daughter, Theresa; and three grandchildren.

Private family services are scheduled. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Philip Ray Hicks

Philip Ray Hicks, 10, of Las Vegas died Oct. 8 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 27, 1991 in Tacoma, Wash. A resident for two months, he was a student.

He is survived by his father, Robert S.W. Tate; his mother and stepfather, Devora McClinton and Keith A. McClinton; five brothers, Ernie J. Hicks II, Edward J. Hicks, Keith A. McClinton Jr., and Robert S.W. Tate Jr.; three sisters, Rolanda L. Williams, La Keisha T. McClinton and KeAuna K. McClinton; and his grandmother, Freddie M. Hicks-Tilmon.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. graveside services Monday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Richard Roy Melchert

Richard Roy Melchert, 63, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 10, 1939, in Wisconsin. A resident for 18 years, he was a tavern and grocery store owner.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Ritch Melchert of Henderson and Jeffrey Melchert of Las Vegas; one daughter, Mary Lawrence of Las Vegas; three brothers, James Melchert of Missouri, Otto Melchert of Wisconsin and William Melchert of Alaska; and one grandchild.

Burial will be in Wisconsin. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Phyllis C. Nielsen

Phyllis C. Nielsen, 65, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1937, in Oswego, N.Y. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by two daughters, Katherine M. Nielsen and Lisa K. Kray, and one son, Richard H. Nielsen, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Patricia Calletto of Bowie, Md.; one brother, Thomas J. Calletto of Batavia, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until a 4 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional services will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. James The Apostle Catholic Church, 1920 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., followed by services in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Patricia Mae Novahom

Patricia Mae Novahom, 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1942, in Hilo, Hawaii. A resident for 19 years, she was a retired teacher's assistant.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur; four daughters, Norine of Washington, Connie of Ohio, Liz of Texas, and Michelle of Nevada; one son, Lil Art of Nevada; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Verna Mae Paustian

Verna Mae Paustian, 86, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. Born July 11, 1916, in Iowa, she was a homemaker.

Burial will be in Davenport, Iowa. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Falao Toalepai

Falao Toalepai, 69, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Henderson. He was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Samoa. A resident for 10 years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by three sons, Faaleaga Toalepai and Falao Toalepai, both of California, and Palenato Toalepai of Nevada; two daughters, Sueala Sauiluma and Fuaimamao Toalepai, both of Nevada; three brothers, Meafua Toalepai and Niko Toalepai, both of Samoa, and Paulo Meafus Toalepai of Nevada; three sisters, Limalau Eddie of Australia and Tusifalau Ka and Lupe Misa, both of Samoa; 20 grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 12:30 p.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 2544 E. Charleston Blvd., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
