Sheldon D. Alquist Jr.

Sheldon D. Alquist Jr., 54, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1948, in Clay Center, Kan. A resident for four years, he was a schoolteacher and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Lynda Alquist of Arkansas; one son, John Alquist of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Pat Davis of Miffintown, Pa.; one stepsister, Coleen Gill of Newton, Kan.; two stepbrothers, Daniel Alquist of Clifton, Kan., and William Gibbs of Camden, Ark.; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

William Dayton Barker

William Dayton Barker, 73, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. He was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Fort McKavett, Texas. A resident for 50 years, he was an automobile mechanic.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; two daughters, Shelly Allen and Kelly Long, both of Henderson; one sister, Dolly Siever of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be noon Saturday at the home of Shelly Allen. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Lonnie Earl Bell

Lonnie Earl Bell, 51, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 1, 1951, in Louisiana. A resident for 22 years, he was a fence erector.

He is survived by his wife, Ovetta Denise; one son; two daughters, Loruhumah G. Bell of New York and Natasha Bell of Michigan; and his mother, Rosemary.

Marian B. Buist

Marian B. Buist, 74, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born May 3, 1928, in Irvington, N.J. A resident for 16 years, she was a retired human resources employee.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Louzau and Pat McInerney; two sons, Bob Buist and David Buist; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be noon Friday in Calvary Chapel, 33 Cactus Garden Drive, Henderson. Sunrise Cremation & Burial Society, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 5, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John A. Cromwell

John A. Cromwell, 62, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 3, 1940, in Arkansas. A resident for 51 years, he was a retired government laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Cora; two daughters, Alicia Alexander of Las Vegas and Shanita Cromwell of North Las Vegas; two sons, Thaddius Alexander of Las Vegas and Maurice Cromwell of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Lubertha Watkins of Las Vegas and Geraldine Cromwell of North Las Vegas; two brothers, Charles Cromwell of Las Vegas and James Cromwell of North Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Powerhouse Church of God in Christ, 1216 W. Adams Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

James Curry

James Curry, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 7, 1929, in Jackson, S.C. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired ground transportation director for Kelsey Hayes Co., Romulus, Mich.

He is survived by his wife, Maude E.; two sons, Jimmy Curry and Sidney J. Franklin Sr., and one daughter, Deborah Franklin, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Rosa Flowers and Estella Lark, both of Detroit; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Helen F. DeFrank

Helen F. DeFrank, 83, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born June 1, 1919, in Williamson, W.Va. A resident for 24 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Pezzute of Crete, Ill.; one son, John DeFrank of Henderson, and one sister, Frances Cicale of South Chicago Heights, Ill.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Illinois.

Dale Ferrar

Dale Ferrar, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care facility. He was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Nebraska. A resident for 12 years, he was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Winterton Ferrar; two sons, Bruce Ferrar of Denver and Dennis Ferrar of Nebraska; one daughter, Gay E. Loose of Nebraska; two stepdaughters, Sharie Winn and Connie Winterton, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Blane Ferrar of Nebraska and Troy Winterton of Las Vegas; one sister, Ieleen Furrow of Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Evelyn Garchow

Evelyn Garchow, 99, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 16, 1903, in Elgin, Ill. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, David Ohngren of Warren, Mich., and Gerald Ohngren of Rochester, Mich.; three daughters, Roberta Jordan of Rogers City, Mich., Rita Cummins of Las Vegas and Judith Sasser of Glendale, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Ogg of Montclair, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled Tuesday at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church. Burial will be in Michigan. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Lorraine Glotzer

Lorraine Glotzer, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 11, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker and a volunteer for the Sun City chapter of City of Hope.

She is survived by her husband, Stan; three sons, Robert Glotzer and Scott Glotzer, both of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Jerry Glotzer of Evanston, Ill.; her mother, Sadie Ziegler of Los Angeles; two brothers, Stanley Ziegler of Los Angeles and Milton Ziegler of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Walter R.J. Haenert

Walter R.J. Haenert, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 20, 1921, in Pergus Falls, in. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired plumber, a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

He is survived by three daughters, Marlene G. Elliott and Susan M. Dermody, both of Las Vegas, and Sharon L. Hawkinson of Cedar Lake, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Helen M. Hammond-Baker

Helen M. Hammond-Baker, 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Garden Grove, Iowa. A resident for 71 years, she was a bookkeeper for Young and Rue Moving and Storage, a charter member and past matron of Sunrise Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and past mother advisor of Order of Rainbow and DeMolay Mother. Her family moved to Southern Nevada in 1932 for the building of Hoover Dam.

She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Urioste of Henderson; one son, F. George Hammond of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Sam George Hanna, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. He was born July 20, 1926, in Lebanon. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired machine shop owner-operator, an Army and Air Force Reserves veteran and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by three sisters, Olga Khourey of Los Angeles, Lorraine Baba of Irvine, Calif., and Adele Swope of Sylmar, Calif.; and one brother, Hal Hanna of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Felicidad A. Hinch

Felicidad A. Hinch, 75, of Las Vegas and San Pascual, Philippines, died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 8, 1927, in Batangas, Philippines. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Lani Hinch, Jimmy Hinch and Robert Hinch, all of Bantangas; five daughters, Rose Bernarte of Bantangas, Annela Vizcarra of Cleveland and Carol Ong, Mary Lou Guinoo and Leilani Avecilla, all of Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Afton Jameson

Afton Jameson, 89, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born March 5, 1913, in Magna, Utah. A resident for eight years, she was a retired teacher, a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Ladies Literary League, Newcomers Club of Las Vegas, Eldorado Bridge Club and Las Vegas Towne Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Hugh of Cedar City and Joy Lea of Las Vegas; one son, Richard Jameson of Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Henry Earl Johnson, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Forest, Miss. A resident for 50 years, he was a keno shift boss and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby C.; one daughter, Henrie Y. Spellman of New Jersey; one son, Kevin G. Johnson of Houston; and two grandchildren.

James G. Kay

James G. Kay, 71, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Mich. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired Air Force colonel who served for 28 years and a former member of the Masons in Rapid City, S.D.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Las Vegas; two sons, Geoff and Greg; and two grandchildren.

Jesse Edward Kent Sr.

Jesse Edward Kent Sr., 65, of Las Vegas died Feb. 12 in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Louisiana. A resident for 40 years, he was a social worker and domestic violence therapist.

He is survived by two sons, Jesse Kent Jr. and Eric Kent; five daughters, Kimela Kent, Beverly Kent, Rhonda Kent, Branda Kent and Beverly Stevenson; three brothers, Johnnie Kent, Lewis Kent and Elliott Dew; one sister, Ada; and eight grandchildren.

Frank G. Leyba, 86, of Boulder City died Sunday in Boulder City. He was born March 30, 1916, in Pena Blanca, N.M. A resident for 34 years, he was a retired federal government security officer, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Boulder City Horseman's Association.

He is survived by his wife, Delfinia; three daughters, Clara Gamez of Las Vegas and Lydia Moore and Mary Clarke, both of Boulder City; four sons, Francisco Leyba of Kingman, Ariz., Joseph Leyba of Libby, Mont., and David Leyba and Ivan Leyba, both of Boulder City; one sister, Flora Castellano of Santa Fe, N.M.; and 10 grandchildren.

Patricia Louise Mart, 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 23, 1942, in Detroit. A resident for five years, she was a medical billing specialist.

She is survived by two daughters, Karole Budik of Henderson and Lisa Hrenak of Las Vegas; one sister, Claudia Yuill of Brighton, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Pauline Evelyn McDevitt

Pauline Evelyn McDevitt, 86, of Las Vegas, died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 21, 1916, in San Bernardino, Calif. A resident for 29 years, she was a bookkeeper for an auto dealership, was a charter member and founder of Fontana Missionary Club and was a reserve sheriff.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Preston of Ukipah, Calif., and Michael McDevitt of Las Vegas; two daughters, Shirley Rojas-Wallace of Calnevari and Frances Applebee-Bennett of Highland, Calif.; 46 granchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren.

Visitiation will be one hour before noon services Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary chapel. Burial will be in Eden Vale Mausoleum.

Mary Ann Reda

Mary Ann Reda, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired owner-operator of a retail store.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Reda, John Reda and Ronald Reda, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Helen Fincher of Norcross, Ga.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Wilford Elmer Robison, 79, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Hatton, Utah. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired assistant district engineer for the state highway department and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Suzie; three daughters, Charlene Wilson of Omaha, Texas, Robin Boatsman of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Janice Cuiffi of Henderson; one son, Gary Pratt of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Marlin Douglas Roof, 54, of Henderson died Jan. 29 in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio.

He is survived by his companion, Kimberly Thawes; one brother, Charles Roof; and one sister, Schelly Wolf.

Louis J. Rudolph, 77, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Kelly's Island, Ohio. A resident for six years, he was a retired owner-operator of a retail electronics firm, a member of the Elks, Italian American Beneficial Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Sandusky, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Melvina K.; one son, Brian A. Rudolph of Henderson; one sister, Theresa Sabo of Bedford Heights, Ohio; and one brother, Joseph Rudolph of Sandusky.

Evelyn Rose Simms, 86, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Nov. 12, 1916, in Carrollton, Mo. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker, a Boulder City Hospital volunteer and a member of the Kitchen Cut Up band.

She is survived by two sons, Darryl Simms and Douglas Simms; two daughters, Donna Del Villar and Denise Martinson; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Jean Willmore Sweet

Barbara Jean Willmore Sweet, 52, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born Sept. 17, 1950, in Los Angeles. A resident for 25 years, she was a Clark County School District nurse and a member of We Care Foundation.

She is survived by two daughters, Amber Sweet McWilliams and Autumn Marie Sweet, both of Henderson; her father, Kenneth Bert Willmore of Hurricane, Utah; her mother, Lee Carolyn White, and one brother, David Lee Willmore, both of Las Vegas.

Prince J. Walker, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. A resident for eight years, he was a retired carpet layer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Linzy, and one brother, Joe Walker, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
