Clark County, Boulder City certify elections

The Clark County Commission and cities of Las Vegas and Boulder City this week certified the results of last week's election

County commissioners on Tuesday certified the results of the June 3 election, in which voters rejected the library's $50.6 million bond issue, the lone issue before voters in unincorporated Clark County, by 62 percent to 38 percent. Turnout for the election countywide was about 18 percent, or about 63,000 voters.

The library district also includes the city of Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas City Council made its election count official Monday, certifying Janet Moncrief's win for City Council Ward 1 , with 58 percent of the ballots cast to incumbent Michael McDonald's 42 percent.

It also certified the wins of Toy Gregory and Abbi Silver for Municipal Court judge.

The Boulder City Council certified its results Tuesday night, and re-elected Mayor Bob Ferraro and newly elected council members Karla Burton and Roger Tobler, will be sworn in for four-year terms on June 24.

Ferraro beat former Councilman Bill Smith by 18 votes.

In the race for two council seats Burton received 3,207 votes and Tobler received 2,673 votes. Councilman Bryan Nix, who was seeking a third term, received 1,958 votes, and Kevin Polk received 1,243.
