Two join Rebels' broadcast team

The Rebel football radio broadcast team will welcome two new voices this fall.

Mitch Roberts, the sports director at KVBC-TV, will be ESPN Regional's new game analyst, replacing Bruce Snyder, who left the booth after last season to join the UNLV coaching staff as an offensive assistant.

Paige Snyder, the daughter of Bruce Snyder, has been hired as a sideline reporter. She is a 2002 graduate of UCLA and works in production at Fox Sports Net in Los Angeles.

The pair joins veteran play-by-play announcer Tim Neverett, who returns for his third season calling Rebel football.

Tressel signs new deal as Ohio State coach

Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel signed a new six-year contract worth at least $1.3 million this season and escalating to $1.8 million in the final year.

The new deal came after Tressel led Ohio State to its first national championship since 1968 with a 31-24 double-overtime win against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl.

Carmelo shows talents

Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony worked out for the Denver Nuggets on Monday, saying he was excited that he might be taken by the team with the third pick in the NBA draft.

A 6-foot-8 small forward, Anthony demonstrated his shooting and ball-handling skills, and his agility and quickness in a 30-minute tryout for the Nuggets' staff.
