Buffet to benefit vision foundation

Two local Lions Clubs are sponsoring a Thai buffet from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday at the Ocha Restaurant, 1201 Las Vegas Blvd., to benefit the Better Vision for Children Foundation.

The foundation is engaged in a fight against amblyopia (lazy eye), retinoblastoma (eye cancer) and other eye disorders in children.

Class may help financial situations

The Consumer Credit Counseling Service, 3650 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 32, will offer the class Making Ends Meet and Dreams Come True from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Participants will learn methods to organize spending, reduce debt, maintain a good credit history without making costly or hazardous mistakes.

Tortoise update scheduled Saturday

Tortoise biologist Ron Marlow will report on the progress of preserving tortoises in Southern Nevada at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society located in Lorenzi Park off Washington Avenue.

Tortoise fans can purchase Tortoise Group caps, tote bags, T-shirts, MegaDiet for backyard tortoises and other items. Call 804-0472.

Las Vegans for Affordable Healthcare
