Letter: Businesses out of state don’t care

Assemblyman Bob Beers, R-Las Vegas, keeps saying taxes never get removed once they are in place. Well, he is very wrong, but he may not have lived in Nevada long enough to remember when the business inventory tax was removed or when Nevada's inheritance tax was removed. The inheritance tax did not cost Nevadans an additional dime -- it was taken from the tax the feds assessed on large estates.

The business inventory tax was removed at the request of the out-of -state businesses, just like the big corporations and out-of-state banks that are fighting the current move to tax business. Most banks are from out of state (even Nevada State Bank) -- they don't want to pay the tax. They don't send their kids to school here. Corporate Wal-Mart doesn't really care about our kids.

Why can't we be as proud of our schools as we are of the beautiful hotels?
