Letter: Bush to blame for budget deficit

It's time for President Bush and the Republicans to admit that their huge tax cuts were a terrible mistake. That they have led us from a surplus of $200 billion in President Clinton's last year to an estimated deficit of $480 billion, with similar deficits expected for the next decade. The national debt will be in the trillions.

The solution, of course, is to rescind some of the tax cuts, which they refuse to do. Worse, the Republicans attack any Democrat who proposes that course, accusing them of wanting to raise taxes.

Watch them as they try to blame Bill Clinton and the Democrats for our financial woes -- but the responsibility is solely theirs.
