Gertrude Aronstein

Gertrude Aronstein, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1931, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Manuel; two daughters, Amy Niedert of Las Vegas and Beth Marotta of North Las Vegas; three sons, Mark Aronstein of Plainfield, Ill., and Joel Aronstein and Howard Aronstein, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Samuel Linder of Creskill, N.J., and Daniel Linder of Chula Vista, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 8 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Corazon N. Bacaltos

Corazon N. Bacaltos, 67, of Las Vegas died May 20 in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1936, in the Philippines. A resident for nine years, she was a retired chef.

She is survived by two daughters, Evangeline Gordon of the Philippines and Elizabeth Bacaltos-Hann of Las Vegas; three sons, Elymar Bacaltos-Hann, Jose Bacaltos-Hann and Eros Bacaltos-Hann, and one sister, Milagros Nacino Gregorio, all of Las Vegas; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled until 7 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. services Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

James Michael Barden

James Michael Barden, 37, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born July 4, 1966, in West Covina, Calif. A resident for two years, he was a supermarket merchandiser.

He is survived by his wife, Toni Rae; one stepdaughter, Jenifer Juergens of Henderson; one stepson, Joshua Cote of Henderson; his stepmother, Brenda Barden of Boulder City; one sister, Debbie Lewis of Santa Ana, Calif.; two brothers, Rick Barden of Texas and Steve Barden of California; and one stepbrother, Tim Thompson of California.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Barney L. Barnett

Barney L. Barnett, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Arkansas. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired service technician.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; five sons, Ralph Claytor of Barnsdall, Okla., Tony Barnett of Redlands, Calif., Carey Barnett of San Bernardino, Calif., and Tim Barnett and Randy Barnett, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Melanie Collens of Las Vegas; two brothers, Percy Barnett of Astoria, Ore., and David Barnett of Owasso, Okla.; one sister, Nell Rowley of Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Dorothy E. Behnke

Dorothy E. Behnke, 79, of Boulder City died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 22, 1925, in Milwaukee. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired deputy audit clerk and a member of the Republican Women of Boulder City.

She is survived by her husband, Frank M.; two daughters, Leslie Behnke-Hall of Simsbury, Conn., and Donna B. Behnke-Jones of San Dimas, Calif.; one son, James Behnke of Hanover, N.H.; two sisters, Martha Zielinski and Helen Banach, both of Milwaukee; and 11 grandchildren.

Isabella Belanger, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Crookston, Minn. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Serra Club, Sun City Bridge Club and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Vocation Committee.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred; two daughters, Mary Martin of Cary, N.C., and Judy Malta of Lompoc, Calif.; six sons, Alfred Belanger Jr. of Bakersfield, Calif., James Belanger of Las Vegas, Gary Belanger of Port Hueneme, Calif., David Belanger of Santa Cruz, Calif., John Belanger of Oxnard, Calif.; and Thomas Belanger of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Maye Lyon of Montclair, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Karl Edward Bethuy

Karl Edward Bethuy, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Michigan. A resident for eight years, he was a retired carpenter and Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; four sons, Jeffrey Bethuy Dean, Dennis Bethuy, Michael Bethuy and Mark Bethuy; two daughters, Marion Von Thomme and Karen Miller; one brother, Clark Bethuy; three sisters, Bernadine Bushey, Harriett Lievens and Germaine Koloso; 30 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Pastor Paul Childers

Pastor Paul Childers, 89, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 15, 1914, in Harold, Iowa. A resident for 42 years, he was a pastor.

He is survived by his wife, Ferle; three sons, Pastor John Mark Childers of Las Vegas and New Zealand and James Childers and Paster David Childers, both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Spring Valley Assembly of God Church, 7570 W. Peace Way, followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Jazell Gray

Jazell Gray, 66, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Wewoka, Okla. A resident for 47 years, he was a custodial supervisor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ezell; four daughters, Sharon Smith, Pamela Gray, Patricia Sailor and Regina Brothers, and one son, Ricky Gray, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Tressie Banks and Vera Graves, and four brothers, Chuck Gray, Larry Gray, Calvin Gray and Wardell Gray, all of Oxnard, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 4 in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel, followed by burial in Memory Gardens.

Kenneth W. Gray

Kenneth W. Gray, 42, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 23, 2004, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a laborer and maintenance worker for Nevada Test Site.

He is survived by six sisters, Juanita Gray, Susan L. Millage, Sandra Lee, Paulette Gray, Debbie Gray-Owens and Georgette Funches, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ryan Alexander Hawley

Ryan Alexander Hawley, 3 months, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 2, 2004, in Nevada.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Linda Hawley, and three sisters, Shantell Carmona, Krystal Mendez and Brittany Mendez, all of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Stephen Hawley of Las Vegas and Zachary Hawley of South Fork, Utah.

Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by burial.

Barbara Jeanne Higby-Carr

Barbara Jeanne Higby-Carr, 66, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 11, 1037, in New York. A resident for 22 years, she was a retired bus driver.

She is survived by her mother, Trudy Buzzell; one son, Steven Higby; one daughter, Ellen Holley; and one grandchild.

Jerry Joseph Jakes

Jerry Joseph Jakes, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Robinsonville, Miss. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired machinist for a dairy and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Juliette; one sister, Erma Hodges of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Charles M. Johnson

Charles M. Johnson, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Omaha, Neb. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired security supervisor at Nellis Air Force Base, a Coast Guard veteran and a member of the Silver City Scamblers.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Johnson; two sons, Skip and Rick Johnson; and four grandchildren.

Sean MacCaul, 46, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 3, 1957, in Toronto. A resident for five years, he was in construction and entertainment.

He is survived by his wife, Carri; one son, Liam MacCaul, and his mother, Joan MacCaul, both of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Kelly A. McGrey

Kelly A. McGrey, 60, of Las Vegas died May 15 in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 15, 1944, in Antigua. A resident for six months, he was a gardener and landscaper.

He is survived by his companion, Juanita; seven brothers, Balwin Spencer, Denidy Davis, Calvin Walshiie, Horatio Christian and Pastor Franklyn King, all of the West Indies, and Pastor Arnold Jacobs and Pastor James Henry, both of Florida; and six sisters, Hilda Davis, Mary Joseph, Generice Francis, Judith Peters, Carmen Brown and Veronica James, all of the West Indies.

Burial will be in the West Indies. Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Irmgard 'Mickey' McManus

Irmgard "Mickey" McManus, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Yugoslavia. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

She is survived by her husband, Charles J.; two sons, John McManus and Tim McManus, and one daughter, Casey Griffin, all of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11:20 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Marie Anne Moynihan

Marie Anne Moynihan, 55, of Boulder City died Sunday in Boulder City. She was born April 11, 1949, in Ontario, Calif. A resident for 26 years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Richard D.; one daughter, Melissa, and one son, Brian Moynihan, both of Boulder City; her mother, Rollande Dufour of Ontario; one sister, Laura Doktor, and one brother, Robert Dufour, both of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

Services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in St. Anne Catholic Church , 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. An additional service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Pauline Ruth Pancoast

Pauline Ruth Pancoast, 82, died May 18 in Las Vegas. Born Dec. 7, 1921, in Lancaster, Pa., she was a waitress.

She is survived by one son, Anthony Pancoast.

Katherine Van Pelt, 93, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Pennsylvania. A resident for one year, she owned a grocery store.

She is survived by two sons, James C. Van Pelt and Jeff Van Pelt; two daughters, Cynthia Klein and Susan Decker; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Goldman Randall Jr., 83, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born March 29, 1921, in Ditto, La. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired musician.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; two sisters, Jessie Baker and Dolly Johnson, both of Monroe, La.; two brothers, Bernice Henderson of Louisiana and T.J. Williams of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Wendlin Frank Reiger

Wendlin Frank Reiger, 70, died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Sept. 1, 1933, in North Dakota. A resident for 37 years, he was a heavy machine operator at the Nevada Test Site.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth G.; four sons, Glen Reiger, Mike Reiger, Robert Reiger and Wendal Reiger Jr.; one daughter, Gwendolyne Reiger; five brothers, Frank Reiger, Edmond Reiger, Pete Reiger, Pius Reiger and Clemens Reiger; five sisters, Helen Ziegter, Margaret Duckshere, Elizabeth Keller, Agnus Breckner and Opal Lemier; and one grandchild.

Marietta F. Roxas, 40, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born July 18, 1963, in Ozamiz, Philippines. A resident for 14 years, she was a dealer.

She is survived by her husband, Buenaventura; and two sisters, Fredlyn Semitara of Oahu, Hawaii, and Gemm Alvia of Honolulu.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Palm Mortuary.

Elizabeth A. Scarnechia-Sargent

Elizabeth A. Scarnechia-Sargent, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Wisconsin. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Scarnechia and Paul Scarnechia; one daughter, Elena Murphy; one sister, Lillian Mertes; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Marvin D. Sellinger Jr., 48, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 28, 1956, in Oxnard, Calif. A resident for 33 years, he was a retired hotel valet attendant and a member of the Culinary Union.

He is survived by one son, Brett Daniel Sellinger, his mother, Mollie C. Sellinger, one sister, Jan Monroe, and two brothers, Jeff Sellinger and Gary Sellinger, all of Las Vegas.

Helen Smith, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Feb. 6, 1929, in New Orleans. A resident for two years, she was a retired department store sales manager.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh A., four sons, Harry A. Smith and Kenneth C. Smith, both of Las Vegas, Wenzell H. Smith of Pittsburg, Calif., and Cedric A. Smith of Oakland, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Anne M. Sprague, 89, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born March 18, 1915, in New York. A resident for seven years, she was a Union Oil Co. secretary.

Gertrude H. Taves, 83, died April 24 in Las Vegas. She was born May 28, 1920, in Germany. A resident for numerous years, she was a retired apartment manager.

Donald Lee Terpstra

Donald Lee Terpstra, 46, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 30, 1958, in Yakima, Wash. A resident for 38 years, he was a plumber, pipefitter and electrician.

He is survived by one sister, Kim Parsons of Las Vegas.

Ruth R. Williams

Ruth R. Williams, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Portland, Ore. A resident for eight years, she was a retired Green Stamp secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Volney M.; two daughters, Lynda Loos of Oregon City, Ore., and Sharon Christine Pletcher of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and four sons, Rodney Skogseth of Reno, David Skogseth of Sacramento, Jeffrey M. Williams of Westchester, Calif. and Michael W. Williams of Valencia, Calif.
