Wed, Aug 6, 2008 (7:39 p.m.)
Authorities are tonight continuing to investigate the death of a 3-year-old Hilliard, Ohio, boy who was run over by an SUV Tuesday in a parking lot of the Big Ben Park in Laughlin, Nev.
It happened about 5:44 p.m. Tuesday when the boy walked in front of a parked 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and knelt down in front of the vehicle where the driver couldn't see him, according to Las Vegas Metro police.
The driver, Brynda Kirk, 24, San Francisco, told police she had been stopped for several minutes while she waited for Todd Moore, 32, San Francisco, to get in the vehicle. Police said when Moore got in, she started driving and over the unseen boy.
The boy was transported to Valley View hospital in Bullhead, Ariz., where he later died from his injuries, police said.
The death is the 73rd traffic-related fatality in Metro Police's jurisdiction in 2008, police said.
