Sen. Reid's statement on the band
President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden’s Inaugural Committee just announced today that the Green Valley high school marching band will join them in Washington, D.C.
Select members of the band have been chosen to march in the 56th Inaugural Parade. The parade down Pennsylvania Avenue will follow Obama’s swearing-in ceremony on the Capitol’s steps Jan. 20, 2009.
There were 1,382 organizations interested in participating in the festivities, but not all were chosen. The Presidential Inaugural Committee selected participants with the help of military musicians who assessed the presentation skills of the marching bands, musical acts and drill teams.
