FLASHPOINT:
There I was, finishing up my work late Wednesday …
Thu, Jun 26, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)
There I was, finishing up my work late Wednesday, when my phone rang with the dreaded “Unknown number” on the caller ID. Reluctantly, I picked it up, only to hear I was being connected to some telephonic town hall meeting being conducted by Sen. John Ensign in Southern Nevada. My first thought was: Pretty smart idea. My second thought was: How the heck did he get my number to get me dialed in? My third thought was: Is he going to suck up to everyone who asks a question? Fourth thought: So Bill Clinton not allowing drilling in ANWAR is really the root of all our energy problems today and our Oil Administration bears no culpability? My fifth thought: Time to hang up and get back to work.
