Now that the (mostly) subterranean drama that is the first couple’s marital problems has resulted in Gov. Jim Gibbons filing for divorce, an uncomfortable almost-story becomes a full-blown sensation. A governor filing for divorce during his tenure is almost unheard of. So the question is: What happens next? First lady Dawn Gibbons already has portrayed herself as a victim. She also has retained a notably tough lawyer in former Washoe County District Attorney Cal Dunlap. Will the mercurial first lady simply accept the terms and fade away, moving out of the mansion? Or will she talk and fight? I bet the governor has his fingers crossed these days.
