Credit card fraud trial postponed

The Nov. 17 trial of two managers of Alzheimer's facilities in Henderson has been postponed because of ongoing plea negotiations in the case.

Cynthia Santamaria Ramos and Alberto Ramos are accused of using a patient's Visa card and pilfering $2,500 in cash from a patient's checking account. Both face 11 counts of misdemeanor fraudulent use of a credit card, five felony counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, one count of conspiracy, one count of exploitation of the elderly and one count of theft.

In addition, Cynthia Ramos is charged with 10 burglary counts, while her husband faces nine.

Deputy District Attorney Andrea Rachiele said a plea deal by Dec. 10 is likely.

"(Defense attorney Robert Draskovich) has indicated he was probably going to accept some sort of mutually agreeable deal," she said.

Because neither defendant has a criminal record, Rachiele said, probation is a possible outcome.

The husband and wife management team was arrested in 2007 after detectives served search warrants at TLC Loving Care Alzheimer's Facilities 1 and 2, located on Emden and Skipjack drives, respectively.
