Nevada lawmakers honor Andre Agassi

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Legislature has honored former tennis star Andre Agassi for “his dedicated philanthropic work.”

Agassi’s Las Vegas charter school will graduate its first class of 34 students in June.

The Assembly and the Senate passed resolutions praising Agassi for opening the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in a disadvantaged neighborhood in 2001. It currently enrolls 600 students in grades K-12.

Agassi spoke the legislative education committees and then hosted a cocktail party for the lawmakers.
