Las Vegas Sun sports writer Ron Kantowski has won an honorable mention for feature writing in the annual Associated Press Sports Editors contest.
Kantowski won for “Old ball pro’s story ends humbly in desert town,” about the death of Todd Cruz, who played on the Baltimore Orioles’ 1983 World Championship team.
APSE includes 568 newspapers from across the United States and Canada. It conducts annual writing and section contests between sports departments of similar circulations. The Sun competes in the category for newspapers with daily circulations between 100,000 and 250,000.
