Metro Police are asking for the public's help in locating a person of interest in the May death of a Cuban immigrant whose body was found on the side of State Route 160.
In a statement issued today, police said Leandro Lopez-Turatis, the person of interest in the death of 23-year-old Francisco Lambert-Cordero, was initially believed to have fled to his native Cuba, but has reportedly been seen several times in the Las Vegas area in the last week.
Lopez-Turatis is Cuban and is described as 6-feet-3-inches tall and 175 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Police say a motorist discovered the body of Lambert-Cordero on May 21 near State Route 160, Blue Diamond Road, and Forrester Street. Detectives said Lambert-Cordero died of head trauma and that it did not appear to be accidental. Subsequent investigation led detectives to Lopez-Turatis as a person of interest.
Lopez-Turatis' white Mercedes has since been recovered, authorities said.
Anyone with knowledge of Lopez-Turatis' whereabouts is asked to call Metro Homicide detectives at 828-3521 or callers wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
