Oklahoma fugitive arrested in Las Vegas

A man wanted in Oklahoma on drug charges was arrested today in Las Vegas.

Kevin Goodwin, 42, was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team and Metro Police. Authorities said he fled Oklahoma in December 2008 after being charged with trafficking cocaine.

On Feb. 2, Oklahoma officials learned Goodwin might be in the Las Vegas area. After an investigation, he was arrested without incident outside an apartment complex near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard

Goodwin was booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending extradition to Oklahoma.

"Arrests like these are the positive results of our joint agency efforts to arrest out-of-state fugitives who think they can avoid capture by fleeing to Las Vegas," U.S. Marshal Gary Orton said in a statement.

The Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team coordinates local, state and federal agencies to arrest fugitives.
