McCarran passenger count drops 1.3 percent in October

McCarran International Airport traffic continued its decline in passenger counts in October, but the trend showed signs of easing.

The passenger count dropped 1.3 percent in October compared to last year, from 3,560,497 passengers last October to 3,513,663 this year.

From September to October this year, passenger traffic dropped one-tenth of a percentage point.

Year-to-date, the total number of passengers at McCarran was down 9.4 percent, from 37,677,412 this year to 34,136,925 last year.

Clark County aviation officials have said the passenger declines have not been as steep in recent months.

Southwest Airlines, the busiest carrier at McCarran, had a 3.2 percent increase in October compared to last year. Southwest's overall traffic for the year is down 2.6 percent.
