Today will be sunny and warm and tonight will be calm for high school football games and late-night activities.
A dome of calm, warm air sitting over Mexico will help to crank up today's high temperature to near 91 degrees in Las Vegas, the National Weather Service said. Average temperatures for this time of year are around 78 degrees, and the record for today was 96 degrees set in 1991.
The low tonight is expected to fall to the mid 60s, when average lows are usually around 63 degrees.
Winds will blow from the northwest this afternoon and evening, generally at less than 8 mph, although some stronger gusts could arrive off the mountains and down the Lower Colorado River Basin.
Saturday and Sunday should see daytime high temperatures around 92 degrees before the next weather system arrives from the Pacific Northwest, dropping temperatures into the lower 80s.
