19-year-old shot during possible robbery attempt identified

A 19-year-old man who was shot and killed in what police are saying is a possible robbery early Sunday morning in southwest Las Vegas has been identified as Dominique Evans, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

Metro Police are saying that the man had returned home with his girlfriend to 3410 Edenville Drive, near Desert Inn and Cimarron roads, about 2:25 a.m. Sunday.

As the couple arrived at the residence, a black car drove up behind them and a man approached the victim, demanding money, police said.

The man suspected in the robbery began beating up the 19-year-old and shot him at least once, police said. He fled in the black car with another man, police said.

Evans was taken to University Medical Center, where he died, police said.

Another attempted robbery occurred about five minutes before the fatal robbery near Darby Avenue and Buffalo Drive near Desert Inn, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Metro's Homicide Section at (702) 838-3521, or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
