A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a crash Sunday morning near downtown Las Vegas left a 52-year-old man dead.

Metro Police said Jacques Norton, of Las Vegas, was driving his 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on Charleston Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the Chrysler arrived at the intersection of Main Street and struck a 1980 Mercedes 300SD that was turning left from Main onto Charleston.

The collision occurred at 5:52 a.m., authorities said.

The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

Norton was arrested in connection with felony driving under the influence with death and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where he is being held without bail.
