Apparently those people who want to replace Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid with a freshman Republican senator believe that all senators are equal, and that the new senator will be able to represent Nevada just as Reid has. Something like changing a light bulb. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The Senate has a simple method of operation: It’s the party in the majority, currently the Democrats led by Reid, who run the Senate. Republicans, as they have shown, can only say no to proposed Democratic legislation while not being able to pass any bills on their own.
In this setup, Republican Sen. John Ensign has been useless to us, not able to get any help for Nevada, and basically standing on the sidelines rooting aginst the Democrats. Electing another Republican senator will not help us, as Nevada would then be represented by two useless Republicans, unable to get any needed legislation for Nevada.
As much as some of you may dislike Harry Reid, realize that his replacement would be disastrous for Nevada.
