Gas station chain eyes Spring Valley location

Gas station

A new gas station and convenience store chain is one step closer to entering the Las Vegas Valley market after the Spring Valley Town Advisory Board recommended approval for its application.

Maverik, Inc., is a Wyoming- and Utah-based convenience store chain with about 250 locations throughout the western United States. The company, which has been expanding by about 25 stores per year, has plans to bring its stores to Las Vegas in the coming years.

One of two locations on track to open first in the valley includes one on the corner of Fort Apache Road and Sunset Road in Spring Valley, which was on the agenda of a recent Spring Valley board meeting.

The site plan details a one-story, 4,630-square-foot building that will house a kitchen, an office, restrooms and retail space. A Maverik representative said the store will not offer seating, but will sell hot deli food, such as pizza, chicken nuggets, and sandwiches that will be cooked on site.

Maverik will also offer five fuel pump islands that can service a maximum of 10 vehicles at a time.

The application will next go before the Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 22 for final action.
