About Daniel Tuntland: In 2007, Daniel Tuntland started his own company – DJT Enterprises. He said he has worked hard during these tumultuous times to succeed in a tough market. “I buy and sell dirt,” said Tuntland, who has spent the past 27 years in Southern Nevada. After spending 14 years with the same real estate firm, Tuntland decided to branch out on this own. During that previous stretch, he served as a non-salaried, independent contractor with Tiberti-Blood Inc. and “was personally involved in well over $100 million in closed real estate transactions from 1993-2007.” Tuntland spent seven years as the chairman of Boys Hope Girls Hope Nevada, has been a member of the executive committee of the Las Vegas Founders, was a trustee of the Las Vegas Founders Golf Foundation and served as a board member for Boys Town of Nevada and the Keystone Corporation.
The most important issue facing the valley: Education. Our goals should range from empowering our schools so our teachers and children perform academically at the highest national levels to a higher education system that produces an educated workforce that will attract new industries to Las Vegas.
My mentor and why: Tom Wiesner. Working for “Big Dog,” I had the fortune to witness Tom Wiesner’s standard of integrity and ethics in business. It wasn’t until I got older that I found everyone did not operate to those high standards. .
