About James Gunther:He joined Helix Electric in 2002 as a 22-year industry veteran. As vice president of preconstruction and design-build, Gunther is responsible for sales and marketing as well as all of the design-build projects for the Las Vegas office. Gunther, who is a Baltimore native, holds membership in the NDA, AGC, NAIOP (where he is a member of the Government Affairs Committee), Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Los Vaqueros Charitable Organization and the Design-Build Institute of America. He has also raised thousands of dollars for local charities such as Communities in Schools, Solution Foundations (a youth anti-drug program), Opportunity Village and Street Teens (a program that provides food to homeless youth). He resides in Henderson with his wife and daughter.
The most important issue facing the valley: Finding sustainable and diverse industry in the valley aside from tourism is a key to providing jobs, increasing property values and minimizing drastic changes in our economy based on outside influences.
My mentor and why: I can’t pick one. My father, my pop and a friend, Frankie Esposito, were all influential in teaching me hard work, respect, honor, loyalty and family.
