About Jon Gray: Jon Gray began working for The Palms in 2005 as an assistant hotel manager while a senior at UNLV. Upon graduation, Gray was pursuing opportunities out-of-state when he had the chance to sit down for a face-to-face with Palms president George Maloof, who offered him a position in marketing for the Fantasy Tower, where he had the opportunity to interact with just about every department.
Gray, who also worked at other local hotel properties in various capacities prior to The Palms, went on to serve as special operations manager before accepting the position of assistant to the president in 2007. He held that post until the fall of last year, when he was named vice president of brand and revenue development.
“We’ve done some really cool things, like getting involved with the Video Music Awards, the NBA All-Star Game and the NHL Awards – which helped the whole city – and we also do a lot with community relations, whether it’s getting involved with food drives or doing major promotions in the nightclubs to benefit a certain charity,” said Gray, who gained invaluable industry experience under Maloof’s tutelage. “Working for George, the sky’s the limit. The Palms isn’t just a hotel, it’s a lifestyle brand.”
The most important issue facing the valley: Creating demand and filling rooms and bringing people to the city.
