About Reinier Geyser: As a boy in his native South Africa, Reinier Geyser took to sports like a fish to water, participating in everything from track and field, to tennis, rugby, cricket and amateur boxing. In the mid-1990s, Geyser realized he could combine his passion for athletics with a lucrative new trend that was sweeping the fitness industry. “There was an explosion in the personal training market and it seemed like a good way to line up what I like to do and make a living as well,” said Geyser, a world-class personal trainer who has experience as a facilitator at Exercise Training Academy in South Africa and as a fitness director sailing onboard with Holland America Line before moving to Southern Nevada in 2005 and founding Las Vegas Bootcamp in 2007. The company’s six-week bootcamp program, which includes one hour of training five days a week, incorporates an accountability factor and targets everyone from stay-at-home moms to professional athletes. Geyser’s business has grown 238 percent in the last two years, but many of his clients seem to be shrinking: Last year, two Las Vegas Bootcamp clients broke the 100-pound weight loss mark and dozens more have shed in excess of 30 pounds. Geyser recently participated in a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, in which 28 Las Vegas Bootcampers participated, raising $1,300 for the nonprofit.
