About Samir Pancholi: Dr. Samir Pancholi has always enjoyed working with his hands, and even as a youngster aspired to pursue a career in the health care industry. He successfully combined those two interests, founding Cosmetic Surgery of Las Vegas in 2006. Board-certified in both cosmetic surgery and facial plastic surgery, Pancholi has extensive experience in revision surgery for patients of breast augmentation, having performed hundreds of operations on women with ruptured and displaced implants. “Either the patient is unhappy or they need repairs, and there’s no happier patient than one who is unhappy coming in and happy going out,” said Samir, who was selected by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery as a media relations representative and was recently quoted in “The New York Times” regarding his approach to patients who need to stop smoking in order to have cosmetic surgery. Pancholi was also chosen by OrthoNeutrogena (now Ortho Dermatologics) to be a physician trainer for Evolence, a collagen-based dermal filler, and was the first cosmetic surgeon to offer Evolence in Las Vegas. He was also honored regarding his research on preventing blood clots in cosmetic surgery patients and selected by OrthoNeutrogena to help educate doctors on safer injection techniques. A featured lecturer on the international circuit, Pancholi supports Child Focus, Candlelighters Foundation, Project Shero and Nevada Ballet Theatre.

The most important issue facing the valley: Education, education, education. There’s not enough emphasis on teaching the young people so that they want to stay here as opposed to recruiting people from elsewhere.

My mentor and why: One of my trainers, Dr. John Socey, from his approach to caring for patients and treating them as people as opposed to a number.

Favorite Web site: www.postgazette.com

Hobbies: I’m getting back into running and, unfortunately, home improvement – I just bought a home. And cars.

Fantasy job: To be a DJ in New York City

One-word description of self: Humble
