Jason Tate is vice president of gaming operations for 777 Gaming.

Stephanie Tyler-Jackson has been named president of AT&T Nevada. Tyler-Jackson will be involved with new technology deployment and infrastructure investment, as well as leading the company’s regulatory, legislative and community affairs activities in Nevada. Tyler-Jackson previously served as executive director of external affairs for AT&T’s Western Region with responsibility for supporting legislative, governmental, regulatory and community affairs across its 17-state region. During her AT&T career, Tyler-Jackson worked in a variety of roles, which included lobbying for AT&T California, and before that, managing community and legislative affairs for SBC Nevada.

Nevada State Bank CFO and Executive Vice President Terry Shirey was appointed to the bank’s board of directors. Shirey is a licensed CPA who was audit manager for the CPA firm of McGladrey & Pullen LLP, supervising audits of financial institutions, including multibank-holding companies, before joining the banking industry.

Guy M. Wells of Las Vegas has been appointed to the Nevada State Contractors Board by Gov. Jim Gibbons. Wells served on the board from 2006-09. Wells, president and CEO of Wells Cargo of Las Vegas, is a licensed general engineering and general building contractor with more than 30 years of construction experience. He is also an active member and officer of the Nevada Contractors Association.

Encore Productions promoted Joel Scheile to director of sales, where he’ll be responsible for the company’s corporate production sales. The company also promoted Rob Stout to director of production, responsible for the company’s production division.

Joe Brezny, a longtime political strategist in Nevada, has joined the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors as a government affairs director. As one of group’s two government affairs directors, Brezny will work with local governments to represent the organization’s interests in Southern Nevada.

Kumen Taylor is a partner with Hutchison & Steffen. He practices primarily in the areas of civil and commercial litigation and also litigates cases involving employment and real estate law. He received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. Taylor spent several years in Central America and is fluent in Spanish. Erin Lee Truman has joined the firm as of counsel. Truman is a trial lawyer and will head Hutchison & Steffen’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Department, which includes both mediation and arbitration.

R&R Partners has named Peter O’Neill as the firm’s new corporate director of public relations. In this role, he will oversee all public relations activities across the firm’s multistate offices. Before joining R&R, O’Neill served as senior vice president of public and community relations for the Nevada operations of UnitedHealthcare, the nation’s largest health insurer, where he directed corporate communications, media relations and corporate social responsibility activities for this market.

Laura Maloney, O.D., has joined Vision Source’s network of local optometrists. Maloney, whose practice is 10170 W. Tropicana, has been practicing optometry in Las Vegas for 13 years.

Awards

The Community Associations Institute presented national awards to four Nevada residents recognizing their service and achievements in 2009: Marilyn Brainard, Award of Excellence in Chapter Leadership; Susan Bauman, CAI Rising Star; Mary Rendina, Chapter Executive Director Rising Star; and Judy Farrah, Educator of the Year.

Lionel Sawyer & Collins founder Sam Lionel was conferred with a Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa, by his alma mater, St. John’s University.

All three of the hospitals in the St. Rose Dominican Hospitals system were honored May 12 with a “Partner Recognition Award” by Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for health care facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. The award is one of the organization’s Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor outstanding environmental achievements in the health care sector.

Corporate giving

Armstrong Teasdale will be a white jersey sponsor for the 2010 Tour de Nez cycling event. In the years since its founding in 1992, the annual race, held in Reno and Lake Tahoe, has become one of the most significant on the cycling tour. This year’s event will be held the weekend of June 18-20. The youth group, ages 18 to 21, wears white jerseys for the race.

Rotary Club of Green Valley donated $4,500 to the Girl Scouts in Detention Centers program, and throughout the entire month of May, Rotarians volunteered at the weekly sessions at Clark County Juvenile Justice Detention Center.

Corporation Service Co. has ranked Lewis and Roca 26th in the United States for 2009 trademark filings. Lewis and Roca filed 451 trademarks. The Year End 2009 Top 100 Trademark Firm rankings are determined by the number of USPTO applications submitted during the 2009 calendar year in which the firm is listed as the legal representative.

MassMedia Corporate Communications signed National Sustainability Group and its four subsidiaries — Metro Energy Solutions, MetWest Energy, Evergreen Energy Nevada and Sustainable IT.

The Wagner/Junker Agency has signed a number of new clients: Michael Flatley, the Siegel Group, Hash House A Go Go, Andre’s at Monte Carlo, Alize at the Top of the Palms in Las Vegas; Manhattan Beach Studios, Shangri-La Hotel, Hollywood Tower and Trixxi Clothing.
