Police: Homeowner shoots at 3 men who tried to steal car rims

Metro Police are searching for three suspects involved in a shooting with a homeowner Tuesday morning after the three allegedly tried to steal the homeowner's car rims.

Metro spokeswoman Officer Barbara Morgan said the homeowner noticed the three men on his security camera about 4 a.m. in the 5300 block of Lonesome Biker Lane and went outside to confront them. That location is near the intersection of Buffalo Drive and Russell Road.

Morgan said an altercation arose between the homeowner and the three men, and one of the men grabbed a rifle from a getaway truck. The homeowner was able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect and began firing at them as they sped off in a Toyota truck.

Police found the truck with rifle rounds and blood inside. At least one of the men had been shot, Morgan said.

Authorities said the truck was reported stolen. No arrests have been made.

Hospitals have been asked to contact Metro Police if one of the suspects tries to seek treatment, Morgan said.
