Caesars World Acquisition – A deal we highlighted, from 1999, was Arthur Goldberg’s Park Place Entertainment acquiring Caesars World, including Caesars Palace.

Lake Las Vegas– Transcontinental Properties and investors including Texas billionaires Sid Bass and Lee Bass announced plans to bring a $500 million Ritz-Carlton hotel to Lake Las Vegas.

Electricity Deregulation – Our inaugural edition on June 2, 2000, includedca report on deregulation of the retail electric industry, a big politicalcand business issue at the time.

Airline Bankruptcy – Las Vegas-based National Airlines initially keptcflying after filing for Chapter 11 reorganization because of high fuel costs.

St. Rose – St. Rose Dominican Hospitals opened its Siena campus

Station Casinos – The company expanded in Southern Nevada in 2000, picking up the Santa Fe, the Fiesta on Ranch Road and the Reserve in Henderson (now the Fiesta Henderson).

Terrible's – Terrible’s hotel-casino opened at the former Continental on Flamingo Road.

VEGAS.com – Our sister company VEGAS.com, formerly a website focused on local users, unveiled a redesign aimed at appealing to out-of-state users. The site is now a major tourism portal.
