LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Candidates should give voters a break

As I write this Wednesday, it has been less than 24 hours since I voted, even less time since the results were posted. Our phone just rang and it was a political message already.

I would suggest to all those politicians who won their respective races to back down a bit, and give voters a break. The general election is not until November, so cool it, please.

This also gives me cause to believe that campaigns throughout the country should only be allowed to begin on Labor Day and end with Election Day in November, as is done in other countries. Millions of dollars could be saved, as well as the patience of potential voters inundated with phone calls, mailings, television ads, etc.

Enough is enough.
