LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Moderates will be disappointed with our Senate choices

It always surprises me that we get so many candidates and officeholders who go far to the right or far to the left.

In Nevada, we have Harry Reid as our senior U.S. senator. He supports and fosters the agenda of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama, and that agenda leans heavily to the left.

The country is obviously angry with the status quo, so the Republicans elected as their Senate nominee Sharron Angle, who leans heavily to the right to run against Reid. Go figure!

I’m a moderate, so I don’t care for Reid or Angle, and that leaves me with the “lesser of two evils” choice.

I appreciated Reid’s efforts to stop Yucca, but I don’t agree with a lot of the Obama-Pelosi agenda that Reid supports. Angle wants to privatize Social Security and close entire agencies of the federal government. I want to see Social Security modified so it can be self-sustaining, and I want a reduction in the size and scope of federal agencies, so Angle’s solutions are not the ones I support.

This is all very disappointing.
