A court hearing has been set to decide whether a special prosecutor will take over a criminal case against Nye County District Attorney Bob Beckett.
Beckett was arrested May 5 on suspicion of felony embezzlement, fraud and public misconduct stemming from an investigation of the use of bad check funds in his office.
A hearing has been scheduled for June 21. Senior Third District Court Judge Robert Estes from Fallon will hear the case.
Beckett lost the Republican primary Tuesday for a fifth term in November.
He claims politics spurred the investigation.
Beckett could face up to 90 years in prison if convicted of all 41 felony charges.
