Las Vegas warming up into mid 80s

Triple-digit heat to head back briefly on Tuesday, forecasters say

Say goodbye to the cool, damp weather -- Las Vegas will finish out the weekend with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

A low pressure system will move northeast out the area today, allowing high pressure to build in Monday for a warming trend, bringing temperatures up to the mid 90s Monday and the low 100s Tuesday, the weather service said.

Another low pressure system is expected to move over the northern Great Basin by the middle of the week, leading to increasing southwest winds and slightly lower temperatures, forecasters said.

Dense fog was observed in central Lincoln County between Caliente and Panaca this morning, prompting the weather service to issue a dense fog advisory for that area until between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.

On Saturday, McCarran International Airport recorded a trace of rain. The high on Saturday was only 79 degrees at McCarran, or 19 degrees below normal.

At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 64 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 72 degrees. The record low was 49 degrees, set in 1938.

Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 65 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 64 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 59 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 75 degrees by 9 a.m., to 82 degrees by noon and reach a high of 86 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 98 degrees and the record high was 114 degrees, set in 1940.

Temperatures are expected to fall to 85 degrees by 6 p.m., to 81 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 77 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Monday's morning low will be 72 degrees and Monday's high will climb to 95 degrees, they said.
