Douglas E. Abell joined American Nevada Co. in 1998 as a senior project manager in the commercial division. Since then, he has overseen the construction of almost 2 million square feet of commercial projects. Abell has more than 30 years of experience in construction and development. Before gaining his position at American Nevada Co., he was director of development for Property Co. of America in Tulsa, Okla. He was vice president and project manager for American International Group — Real Estate & Management Co. of New York from 1989 to 1995, where he was responsible for major construction projects in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Prior to that, Abell was with Property Co. of America, where he served as a partner in the commercial real estate division and as regional director of commercial construction, overseeing projects in Tulsa, Okla., Washington, D.C., Nashville, Tenn., Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan. From 1980 to 1983, Abell was director of commercial construction for the company’s predecessor, Lincoln Property Co. Abell has contributed his time and expertise to a variety of community-based organizations, including the Clark County School District Life Science Program and Lied Animal Shelter. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in construction science/building construction from Kansas State University.
