After four years of existence in the Henderson foothills, the Findlay Prep basketball program enjoyed yet another first Thursday night.

Avery Bradley, who last played for the Pilots as a senior in 2009, became the first Findlay grad to be selected in the annual NBA Draft, as the Boston Celtics made the Tacoma, Wash., native the 19th overall selection in New York City.

Bradley led the Pilots to a title in the first ESPN Rise National High School Invitational in April 2009 — a title which they defended successfully this season.

He then went on to Texas, where in his lone season as a Longhorn, the 6-foot-2 combo guard averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as the team finished 24-10 and appeared in the NCAA tournament.

Bradley could be considered as a long-term replacement for veteran Celtics guard Ray Allen, who is a free agent this summer.
