What a difference a week made for Arbor View.

Six days after battling Palo Verde in a defensive struggle, Arbor View engaged in an offensive variety show against Durango in the first round of the playoffs Thursday night. Arbor View came out on top, 48-46.

“It was a flat-out track meet,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said.

The Aggies had 599 yards of total offense, while Durango easily eclipsed the 400-yard mark.

Running back Roderick Eason rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. He also caught a 66-yard touchdown pass from Henry Hoffend.

Donnie Gaskin had 18 carries for 247 yards and Christian Rodriguez rushed for 109 yards on 13 carries.

“We’ve accomplished a lot this year and hopefully we’re not done,” Barnson said.

To advance further in the playoffs, Arbor View will have to knock off defending state champion Bishop Gorman. The Aggies will meet the Gaels in next week’s Sunset region semifinals.

The game against Durango was Arbor View’s first playoff appearance and victory in the school’s history.
