A man has been arrested in the Thursday afternoon shooting death of a 32-year-old Las Vegas man at a south valley hotel.

Donald Taylor, 28, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one charge each of murder with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bail, authorities said.

A second suspect sought in the shooting hasn't been identified, police said.

The shooting occurred about 2:30 p.m. at Emerald Suites, 9145 S. Las Vegas Blvd., near the intersection with Serene Avenue. The shooting apparently occurred after an argument over drugs, police said.

The victim, who was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Michael Ray Pearson, was visiting with friends inside a room at the hotel when he invited two other men inside, police said.

The victim was shot multiple times in the neck, police said. Pearson died at the scene, but his friends were unharmed.

An official cause of death hasn't yet been determined by the coroner’s office. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is being urged to call Metro’s Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
