The Rancho High football team opened play in the Northeast Division on Thursday with a 53-0 victory against host Sunrise Mountain (0-3).

The Rams (2-2) have won both their games by shutout, also topping Sierra Vista 32-0 two weeks ago.

Cody Hafen's three rushing touchdown led the Rams, while Shamel David added two touchdowns.

Last week, Rancho blew an 18-point lead with eight minutes to play in losing to Green Valley.

“We’ll take any win we can get,” Rancho coach Elvin Dick said. “We are fighting for our lives every week. We didn’t finish it out last week.”
