Henderson voters can cast ballots today, Tuesday

Henderson residents can cast their ballot at any of the 12 Vote Centers throughout the city for the primary municipal election tomorrow.

Henderson was the first municipality in Nevada to implement Vote Centers, which allow voters more flexibility and convenience in choosing where to vote. The Vote Centers replaced traditional precinct polling stations that were pre-assigned to registered voters.

The centers were introduced during the 2007 municipal election to address declining voter turnout. Since its implementation, Henderson has seen an increase of more than 11,000 voters while reducing election-related costs by more than $56,000, according to city officials.

Henderson’s municipal elections are nonpartisan, and registered voters may vote for any candidate regardless of party affiliation or the ward in which they live. If a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes in the primary, he or she is declared elected. If a simple majority isn’t established, the two candidates with the most votes will move on to the general election on June 7.

For more information and to request a sample ballot, residents may call the City Clerk’s Office at 702-267-1400 or visit www.votehendersonnv.com.
