A small, two-seater plane crashed in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area late this morning in Arizona, injuring one person, officials said.
Lake Mead rangers were called at 11:33 a.m. about the crash, which occurred at Temple Bar, National Park Service spokesman Andrew Munoz said.
Munoz said he didn't know the plane’s flight plans, but there is an airport nearby at Temple Bar.
The pilot was the only person on the plane. A helicopter ambulance was called to take the injured person to a local hospital, he said.
The plane is intact, but there is a fuel spill that rangers are trying to contain, Munoz said.
The Federal Aviation Administration was contacted.
