Henderson’s not a very old city, but it’s old enough to celebrate its history, anyway.

Saturday was the city’s annual heritage parade and festival, to “celebrate 58 years to rich traditions and community spirit,” the event’s program said.

The day’s activities kicked off with a breakfast served by the mayor and city council. Hundreds of people then lined Water Street for a parade, which included about 60 entries.

The theme for the parade was “Henderson – Chocolatiers for 30 Years,” with the grand marshal Ethel M Chocolates, which has operated in Henderson since 1981.

Following the parade, the festival at the Henderson Events Plaza, next to City Hall on Water Street, features games, food and a classic car show.

Food vendors at the festival, which continues until 7 p.m., include cuisine from Korea, Mexico, the Philippines, India, China, Italy, Germany, Malaysia, Peru, Japan, Hawaii, Romania, Ireland and Scotland.
