16-year-old boy identified in fatal shooting, gunman sought

Double shooting

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified a teenage boy killed in a double shooting Thursday night in the northeast valley.

Manuel Rios, 16, of Las Vegas died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, the coroner said. The boy’s death was ruled a homicide.

Metro Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man suspected in the shooting.

Police responded to the 3500 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard at 8:22 p.m. Thursday after receiving multiple reports of gunshots in the area.

Police found Rios suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and a 21-year-old man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the ear. Both were taken to University Medical Center, where the boy died.

Homicide detectives determined that both the suspect and the two victims arrived at an apartment complex in the same vehicle. After they exited the vehicle, the suspect shot the victims and ran. Police don't know the motive behind the shooting.

Police described the suspect as a black man with braided black hair, 35 to 40 years old, about 6-foot-1-inch tall and weighing about 220 pounds.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the homicide bureau at 702-828-3521. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
