A thunderstorm rolling across the valley on Tuesday dumped as much as a half inch of rain on Henderson, while Mother Nature put on an impressive lightning show over the Strip.
While rain pelted Henderson and 20 mph winds buffeted McCarran International Airport during the afternoon, the skies over the Strip after dark were ripped by bolts of lightning that eclipsed the famous boulevard’s neon and made the Luxor’s 42-billion candle power beam look like a carnival glow stick.
“We are getting a drier air working its way in, but I can’t preclude we won’t have a thunderstorm tomorrow,” KSNV Channel 3 meteorologist Jerry Brown said on Tuesday’s 11 p.m. broadcast.
Tuesday’s temperature, meanwhile, peaked at 107 degrees while the low fell to 82 degrees.
Today’s morning low is expected to be 85 degrees with a high of 104 degrees.
