Part of St. Rose Parkway to close Sunday night for construction of pedestrian bridge

New pedestrian bridge

Construction of a pedestrian bridge will close St. Rose Parkway between Eastern Avenue and Coronado Center Drive in Henderson on Sunday night.

Crews will be pouring concrete for the bridge’s walking surface, which is 18 feet above the roadway. The steel structure for the bridge was installed Tuesday night.

Eastbound St. Rose will close at 9 p.m. Sunday. Those lanes will reopen when the work on that side is done and then the westbound lanes will be closed. The work should be done and the road reopened by 6 a.m. Monday, city officials said.

The bridge will be part of the Amargosa Trail, which starts at Mission Drive west of Horizon Ridge Parkway and connects to the county’s trail system west of Eastern Avenue.

The bridge, which will cost $1,686,400, is funded through the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and is scheduled to be finished next month.
