Northbound lane of I-15 scheduled to reopen tonight

I-15 construction

Finally, some good news for construction-weary motorists on Interstate 15 in the southern valley: Crews are reopening a northbound lane tonight.

The reopening means northbound I-15 will once again be five lanes between the railroad bridge north of Sunset Road through to Tropicana Avenue.

The closed lane has caused some congestion on the interstate just north of its connection with the Las Vegas Beltway.

The closure has been in place for months as crews work on the I-15 Design-Build South Project, which is widening the road from Blue Diamond Road to Tropicana Avenue.

The $246.5 million project began in February 2010 and is scheduled to end in March 2012.
