Traffic signal work to close lanes Sahara and the Strip

Traffic signal work

Traffic signal upgrades will close lanes at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue for the next two nights.

Crews are upgrading the intelligent transportation system on the Strip, which will improve travel by better synchronizing the signals through the Regional Transportation Commission’s Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation.

The work at the busy intersection will close lanes on both streets from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight and Thursday night. At least one lane in each direction of both streets will remain open.

Officials ask motorists to plan extra travel time and use extra caution while traveling through the resort corridor during this project.

Work on the Strip for the transportation system began in February. FAST controls more than 1,200 traffic signals throughout the valley and uses road sensors, traffic cameras, ramp meters and message signs to manage traffic on valley freeways and arterial roads.
