City of Henderson to recycle Christmas trees

The city of Henderson is reminding all residents that they can recycle their holiday Christmas trees to be used for city parks and landscaping.

Starting Dec. 26 through Jan. 16, residents can drop their trees off for free at six Henderson locations during regular park hours.

Last year the city recycled 3,605 trees.

The locations are Acacia Park at 50 Casa Del Fuego St., Anthem Hills Park at 2256 N. Reunion Dr., Mission Hills Park at 551 E. Mission Dr., Morrell Park at 500 Harris St., Pecos Legacy Park at 150 Pecos Rd., and Whitney Ranch Recreation Center at 1575 Galleria Dr.

The trees will be chipped into mulch onsite and will be used in parks and landscaping around Henderson municipal buildings.

All non-organic material should be removed from the tree prior to recycling. These items include lights, ornaments, wires, tinsel, and nails. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.
